Default Class of 2017--Football Recruits

I know it's early, but it was hectic trying to do all of compiling and stuff last second during the fall/winter. As a teacher, summer seems like a great time to get ahead of things. I've created an another sheet to compile information on potential recruits and scholarship offers, based mostly on what I can find on Twitter and other sources. However, if I miss anything, please let me know so that I can make the proper updates. Thank you and GO PANTHERS!!!

Updated the list. Only real changes are an additional target (Andrew Einck) and an offer extended to Justin Morris. Morris recently visited with HS teammate/QB Jeremy Hodge who we had already offered.

This brings us up to 36 confirmed offers at the moment.

Also, Logan McCormick(DE - Kimberly, WI), Luke Chuol(DE - Osseo, MN), and Spencer Waege(DE - South Shore, SD) all said they had UNI offers. (all NDSU verbals)

There are a few more UNI offers among these NDSU offers: (haven't committed to anyone yet)

John Nagel has himself listed as a Northern Iowa Commit for 2017.
https://mobile.twitter.com/0jnag

has good size to him and his HUDL account has him listed as a TIght End. Great hands and body control on pass catches.

Anyone know much about Maliki Wilson from CR Xavier? Kid is an athlete and seems to spend a lot of time at our camps. Does he have an offer or interest?

Austin Schirck from Carroll has announced he is coming to UNI on scholarship (of some sort).

@austinschrick82

A couple comments about the Twitter handle. Are there that many Austin Schircks in the world that he need to append his uniform number? Second, I believe this is the first DE I have seen wearing a uniform in the eighties. Ex-WR that kept growing?

Odd timing, considering the way ISU has looked the first two weeks. Hope he enjoys staying in to help block instead of going downfield to catch passes.

Maybe he realized TE aren't used much at UNI except to block...

That's a good point. Either choice probably wouldn't turn out great for him. Maybe ISU will eventually have enough offensive line to allow him to get downfield.

Same with Iowa St. so far, although they have enough offensive woes that it's hard to tell.

Seeing OL coming in at 270, 280 and 300 is a nice change.

From the highlight reels, looks like Peine is a lean 270 and has speed. Neisen just knocks people down ... a LOT.

Per Twitter...

An OL from Glendale CC is Arizona offered by the Panthers tonight. Appears there's a former Panther player on the coaching staff there.

Also two DBs from Deerfield Beach, FL offered as well. One SS and one CB.

All seem genuinely excited about the prospect. Despite fear the world was ending tomorrow by some on PN.com...

Apparently UNI has pulled their scholarship offer to Denzel Fondungallah...A WR from the Twin Cities who committed a month or so ago.

Hate to see that.

However...It is noteworthy that when he committed, he said he was committing to UNI but also keeping his recruiting open.

His Twitter post said he was informed that with coaching changes at UNI, they informed him the offense has decided to go in a different direction. Guess we'll see what that means on signing day.

OK...Strap on your seat belts folks.

The recruit has now posted on Twitter that Farley has now contacted him directly and told him that someone from his staff (or formerly on staff) has fed him incorrect information and his scholarship has NOT been pulled.

Denzel then says with all the craziness in the last hour he is still not committed to UNI.

W...T...F is going on?!?!

And now Farley has called him and said his offer was never pulled.

Assistants are feeding him lies. Assistants likely no longer with the program.

And also likely interested in him at their new school.

I'm sure this happens, but what a mess. The mass exodus of offensive assistants makes it that much more likely this year.

There are rules against tampering. May be hard to prove and you see kids follow the coach that recruited them at times, but there are rules about this. Will see if UNI tries to make anything of it.

I think Farley just set that in motion by quickly contacting the recruit after a former assistant likely tampered. If the kid doesn't want to come to UNI, fine, but I would also make anyone tampering suffer as well. Watch to see if anything comes out about East Carolina or any other landing spot of a former assistant....

There certainly seems like a case of tampering, though if it was an assistant without a job at the time of the phone call (potentially someone like Barkema) there is no action that can be taken. Now, if it was Lynch or Paup (massive stretch to think that's the case as of now ) and then ECU or Minnesota all of a sudden throws an offer his way it's fair to assume tampering "charges" will be pressed by UNI.

I would also put a bunch of money on Farley knowing who did it, and looking for potential action to take against said coach, even if they aren't coaching. There might be provisions that would follow a coach should he take another job.

UNI is notorious (at least under Farley) for not publicizing scholarship offers. Probably has to due with the history of Iowa and ISU swooping in on a targeted athlete, using UNI as a scouting service.

That list is not complete.

The list earlier in the thread is more accurate. We have about 10 commits. Most the kids on the larger list have Twitter posts indicating they've committed.

Farley said expect about 15 signings so we can expect a few more.

Per Twitter...

Panthers got a verbal commit from Erik Sorensen an OT out of Waukee.

Dimensions reminds me of a Bryce Sweeney..
6' 6" and 300 lbs. Long arms.
