You're right. I guess Bethune's jerseys are more of a **** brown uniform than grayish-brown. Geography makes more sense too

Having done it prior, I can agree with Panther-state, it does take significant time to put together. Although, it's actually enjoyable as you get to see videos on each of the recruits as you do research. It's a great thing, and very appreciated by others.

Any volunteers????

Its a TON of fun and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the guys from last year starting to make their way into playing time. It was awesome seeing Charles Brown, Daurice Fountain and Preston Woods all get on the field this past season.

Wow! Looks like UNI is trying to get the Chicago High School Player of the year (QB). He was previosly comitted to Illinois State, but had problems with admissions. Just received an offer from UNI http://recruiting.scout.com/story/15...rs-for-collins

Here is his highlights. Looks like he pretty much dominated his competition.
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/953645/highlights/210232408

Lost final game in the Il State Championship.

In reading that brief story, it seems that Salmon is still actively involved in the recruiting process. More intrigue with the hire of Joe Davis.

Salmon is only 60 or 61. He may still have 4 or 5 years left in him. I would think 4 or 5 years would also be around the end game for Farley...

I'm guessing him to be more in the pushing 63 range. He played for UNI in 1975. With a red shirt year that would have put him at about 23 about 40 years ago. Still, who knows what his plans are. Some coaches just go until they don't feel it anymore, age be damned.

Dewayne Collins doesn't look like much of a thrower in that Hudl video. The velocity on the ball just doesn't look like it's there. Looks like a good runner though.

Tough to tell velocity on tape, I liked that he was accurate and that several times when the pocket was breaking down he seemed poise and made throws downfield instead of just using his legs to save him. I can see why he was the POY.

Another player surfaced. Brother of Xavier James

Jalin James --Receiver

https://twitter.com/Jaylin_James1/st...93826909863938

I do not know much about him save he is Tall according to info I found on him (about 6'3"). What's his potential and how good is he at Receiver and DB?

Uh oh! Based on his family picture he won't be able to find enough comp tickets for his family!

We got a commitment from Cal Twait out of Manson NW Webster, he also had offers from the Bison and Redbirds.

I believe that his dad is the head coach at Iowa Central CC and his grandpa is the legendary Emmetsburg coach.

Awesome! Saw a little of his highlights on hudl. Had a ton of pancake blocks. Love the intensity he seems to have. Welcome to Panther Nation Cal!

Welcome to UNI, Cal Twait. Love his attitude. An o-lineman that likes to hit! We need to bring back the nasty to our o-line!

Cal is a very hard worker and knows football. Father is head football coach at Iowa Central and his grandpa is the Emmetsburg coach that won all of those football titles. This is a great commit for UNI.

Just watch his highlights here and you will agree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eypCeMVXIic&app=desktop

Good to see him a Panther, although I'm a little skeptical of watching a kid that size pancake people when he's playing 2A competition (and barely that at times). I lived up in that area for a long time, and Manson isn't exactly Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Iowa City. Can't teach size, I guess. Hope you have a great Panther career, Cal!

He has went to many camps by the looks of it, and like I said, had offers from NDSU and Illinois State so I think this is a good get, probably won't see the field until his 3rd year though.

Can't really teach mentality, either. Gentle giants are easier to find than guys that enjoy the sound of air expelling from an opponents lungs as they get driven to the turf. I like that this kid seemed to not just want to beat his opponent, but destroy him. And that is regardless of level of play. Size and "ugliness" are a good combo to work with.

Somewhat agree with you but David Johnson and Seth Tuttle don't really come from Des Moines either.

True but Manson isn't Clinton either. David was still playing against 4A competition and Seth was recruited through AAU play, not West Fork. If we only watched HS games then Deon would have never been discovered by Jake

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, especially as a lineman. We've brought in some really good players from Parkersburg, which doesn't play against great competition either. Since UNI is largely an Iowa based roster, there would be a multitude of other small towns who have supplied really good players to us.

Where I get a little skeptical are small town RBs or WRs who put up gaudy numbers, and the fans of those schools automatically think they'll be great in FCS, Big 12, etc. Although a few are legit, the vast majority end up playing to their level at Simpson, Wartburg, etc. Nothing wrong with that, just a statement of reality.

It's not that someone has to come from the biggest city to be a quality talent, it's just as it relates to being a dominant-looking lineman in high school, it's a little more suspect when they're doing it against IKM-Manning and South Central Calhoun against 200 lbs. defensive linemen rather than WDM Dowling or Cedar Rapids Washington. I'll definitely give you Tuttle, though. Who saw that one coming (at least to the degree he's playing now)?

Spoke with my nephew tonight - horrible news all around.

Will be walking on at Iowa this fall. If that does not work out, he is he may end up at NDSU. They want him as a line backer. If that wasn't bad enough, he told me his mother bought him a Mac.

As Mr Wonderful says, he's dead to me.

I don't understand the walking on a very mediocre football program that's terribly boring to watch and probably play for, when NDSU is on the other line........

It's a dark, dark day. Semi-official word is that he has been offered scholarship $$$ (and accepted) by NDSU.
