Yep. Also, Phyfe lost in the state semis today but from what I have been told he looked very good.

I don't see how he can redshirt next year. How minutes are distributed will be interesting. We could also play some massive lineups

Bruninga said he will take vists to Loyola, ISUr, UNI, and "maybe more."

No new news about Pickford, other than that he's apparently the only unsigned player in Minnesota's Mr. Basketball Top 10

22 and 11. Best player on the floor and not close.

If the rest of his team would have shot better than 20% they win going away. They beat the same team by 18 earlier in the year.

Basically what I heard as well. Not exactly sure whose minutes he will take but he has to play.

I saw Phyfe's dad Steve play in both high school at Nashua and at UNI and Austin seems so much larger. He may be an inch or two shorter than Steve, but he is so much bigger in the upper body. Austin made a couple of 3 pointers last night, but no doubt in my mind he will be able to contribute some good inside minutes right out of the gate next year. It appears he has good hands too.

You must be wrong. I said in the "next year" thread an opposing coach told me Phyfe isn't as tall as listed. I was told by BCPanther Jesus himself measured Austin two years ago at an Iowa football camp bare footed with his bunions filed down and he was 6-8 3/4.

So you see, you are wrong, damn wrong.

I'm pretty sure that measurement was with bunions included.

Watched Phyfe play the semi final game.

Impressions....big strong kid. Skilled with the ball. Good passer. Not selfish...to a fault.

Most impressive though...his feet and athleticism. He goes to the basket hard. Very athletic with quick spin moves and bringing 230+ lbs of bulk with him. A handful. Good on the boards...he'll help us there.

Didn't see him shoot much from 8 to 15 feet. Stroke looks good but he never pulled up to shoot from mid-range.

Made a few big threes and looked good doing it...but only shot 25% for the season.

Really I thought WSR lost that semi game by not getting Phyfe enough shots or chances to get to the line. They don't have much else for scorers and he needed more attempts in 2nd half. I would a moved him around a little more to get touches and not post him up against 2 or 3 defenders.

But I left the game with confidence that this kid is going to help us.

Another 20 and 15 for Phyfe today in the consolation game.

Pretty good for a 5-11 kid.

I think we're gonna miss out on tywan. In home visit from Nevraska tomorrow. He seems like a kid who wants to wait for that power 5 offer. Why else would you not have committed by now. Hope I'm wrong because he looks good.

Yea. I have that feeling too. I really like Bruninga. Hopefully we can snag him. If not a grad transfer. Maybe Dale Jones?

Dale "the only person with a longer medial history than Carlton Reed" Jones?

For 1 year, what's the risk? If (a big if) he's healthy he's a big body who is a very good shooter. Stick him at the 3 and we can roll out big lineups with shooters.

But to be clear I'd prefer to have Pickford or bruninga.

He can't guard the wing and we're set at the 4.

Hard Pass.

What are you basing this on? I'm not saying you're wrong just wondering.

I went back and read some of his juco recruiting stories and they called him a 3. Said he would have to guard the 3 and the 4.

Even if he can't guard the 3. Klint should be able to. I guess I just don't see why you guys are passing so quickly on him. I see basically no risk in the situation .

Him being able to guard the 3 was three knee injuries and a broken foot ago.

I suppose if we miss on Pickford, he would be an okay back up plan. Saw him play a bunch in high school and I just didn't love his game. Maybe there's been a big change but who knows since he's basically missed the last two years.

Gotcha. I'm afraid Pickford is gonna jump on a P5 offer. I am really hopeful that we get Bruninga though. I think he will be a steal.

We need a 3 more than another post in this class. I certainly wouldn't say no to Bruninga though.

I'm not sure what P5 offer is going to appear this late in the game. There aren't many open rides at P5 schools left. It can happen if someone unexpected leaves early or transfers, but a place like Nebraska isn't going to be appealing other than the "We are Big 10" point. Which, is enough for some. Tim Miles has now gon 15-18, 19-13, 13-18, 16-18 and 12-19 at Nebraska. Yes, they made a magical run to the NCAA tournament the year they were 19-13, where they got bounced first game by 14. The only reason they even got there is they went from 11-10 to 19-11 late in the year. They basically have been good for one single 2.5 week stretch at just the right time over his 5 seasons. Chances are Miles is gone after next year. So unless having a B10 patch is that important, I'd have a hard time believing Nebraska is an actual threat.

I think (hope?) He could play the 3. I think he was a guard and then grew a lot.

While I'm sure he's technically a stretch 4. He doesn't seem to be a real post player like Luke .

I may be way off but I'd imagine the coaching staff has a similar thought as you arecorrect we do need a wing

Maple Grove plays in the state championship game tomorrow. Is it safe to expect a decision shortly after the season ends?

Tbf, there's a lot wrong with that article. It lists Nebraska as having offered him, despite no such offer yet. They're watching, but haven't offered. And there's no way that we're lower on the list than Tulane.
