If anyone is bringing down an RV to the game, I have a general RV parking pass.
You can park Friday night at 7:30 and stay until Sunday.
The most popular place is Finkbine Golf Course - and you need a prepaid pass to park there.

Otherwise the other general lots, you can pay in cash when you arrive.
If you pay in cash, it's $50. You don't pay anything if you have a prepaid pass.

I have one for $35 if you want to save money. I'll cover shipping.
Email me if you want it: Anthony@IowaTailgate.com

EDIT - PASS HAS BEEN SOLD. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for your input. I wound up buying a pass off E-Bay for the GH lot which is by Carver Hawkeye Arena for $50.

I have a GH pass as well that I got for free, hopefully we get there early enough to still get a spot.

Hey Iowa Tailgate Guy,

I have a K/C pass, my two friends have SH passes, I want to park with them. Can I do that? Or are they going to make me go to a K/C lot? I figured they can't park with me in K/C, but can I go down a level to them? Thanks.

Look for the "UNI Panther" motorhome & stop by. Go Cats! We are planning to be there around 6 am.

We won't be there until 12-130 because I have board exams in the morning. If we see you we will most definitely stop by and meet some fellow Panther fans!

You can park down according to the back of the pass.

Anyone sticking around and staying the night in Iowa City? If so, Tailgators in Coralville (450 1st Ave) has a Cedar Falls band playing from 9-1.

Just because you are late to the party, doesn't mean you have to ruin my night!

I will be staying in Iowa City to celebrate a panther victory! But I don't think I will make past downtown Iowa City. If anyone else is going downtown Saturday I shouldn't be hard to miss, I'll be head to toe purple singing the UNI fight song all night!

alright guys, covering the game for the Sports Monter, and was lucky enough to get a parking spot on Ramp 3 on Stadium Drive and Hawkins. Question is, easier to come from Hawkins and the coralville exit or come from 218 to Melrose. I'm thinking Melrose will be a ***** to deal with. Thanks in advance for the Advice

I have no other reason to go to Iowa City other than if the Panthers are playing there.

DON"T try to drive east on Melrose between University Heights and Kinnick. The pedestrian traffic south of the stadium will prevent you from making the turn north to get to the parking ramp. Better to come from Hawkins.

traffic gets pretty thick by 10. i would take first ave, take a left, and go down to hawkins, or continue through that light and take the "batcave" behind carver if its open.

Sorry for the late response. Didn't check this until now.

Here are the order of the priority parking passes, starting with the highest:

KC
GH
SH
GP(cash parking)

KC passes allow you to park in any of the lots.
GH passes allow you to park in GH, SH, GP
SH passes allow you to park in SH, GP
And finally, GP only allows you to park in the General Public lots.

I know it's too late now, but the KC passes have a very high value. You would have been better off selling that pass for around $100, then buying an SH pass for about $30. Again, likely too late now. I would put an ad on Craigslist and see if someone is willing to trade with you (and they pay a little extra cash, of course).

KC passes are very rare because you have to donate a minimum of $5,000 a year to have access to that parking lot. That's why they have a fairly high resale value.

I saw the Iowa/ISU game sell for over $350 for the KC pass and the Iowa/Nebraska game sell for over $400. That's just to park!

Looks like your question was already answered. Melrose is a zoo on gameday.

I'd highly recommend taking Hawkins. Traffic will be a lot smoother than on Melrose.

I'm not familiar with that. There are plenty of cash-lots available within a 15-18 minute walk to the stadium. Newton Road Ramp = $.90 cents an hour. Finkbine is $20 a vehicle.

Myrtle is back to being a cash-only lot this year, too.

We have a KC pass but might be after noon. What's the best way to find out if any lots are open? Just check with friends?

I don't think you'll have any problems. The lot right next to Kinnick might be pretty full, but I would expect some openings still.

Last week, I was in the GH lot (Dental Lot, next to carver hawkeye arena) and there were still empty spaces at 2 p.m. as I was walking towards the stadium.

Also, cell phone reception is absolutely terrible a couple hours before kickoff. Even a half mile from Kinnick, it can take a few times to send a text message or receive a call. So if you try to call someone, it might take a few attempts.

Once you get inside Kinnick, don't plan on using your phone. I have US Cellular and I can never do anything.

Edit - I guess I really didn't answer your question. I would say ask your friends if you know someone tailgating in/near your parking lot.
Once the lots are full, they'll block off the entrance. So as long as the entrance isn't blocked off, then there will be parking spaces available.

Back in '09, I remember parking somewhere just off of 218 (somewhere around Mormon Trek, I think), and taking a free shuttle into the stadium (or near enough).

Was nice as it didn't cost me a thing (for parking or for the shuttle), and it was quite easy to get back out onto 218. I'm hoping that's still available this year.

Of course, I don't tailgate, so I don't have to worry about those regulations.
