    Re: UND to MVFC?

It would be highly unlikely for the worst people on earth to live next door to the greatest people on earth. On the plus side UND does pass the basic intelligence test of knowing how to pronounce their team name correctly. Or are they the fittin hayaks?

It would be one more indoor game. MVFC, the new arena league.

Maybe they do, and lakes is just confused about which side is which.
Give us a yell, HO! The purple and the gold
        Victory for U-N-I!

Find out what the other team wants to do, then take it away from them.

UND to MVFC and Summit (no one really cares about the 2nd part)

It is being widely reported that UND is making a strong push to become a member of the MVFC and Summit (again no one cares about that), and that there is better than a 50% chance of it happening. I know that the Bison fans, especially Lakes are having a fit about this, what are your guys thoughts.

They bring literally nothing to the table. There's no reason.

Maybe if we were a hockey conference

It is likely to bring UNI nothing but grief in FB.

The rotating schedule will likely place is in the West, playing the Dakota teams each year. Unless something seriously changes, this side of the league seriously stacked, while the East group would be pretty easy.

It's the Big Ten in reverse. Imagine Western Illinois coming out of nowhere, going 10-0, then getting absolutely clobbered (and exposed) by Cal Poly in the FCS playoffs. Where have I heard that before?

Is there anyone out there who would make a good addition if the conference added a member? Eastern IL is about the only viable candidate I can think of. A school moving up to the scholarship level of FCS wouldn't seem prudent given the uncertain landscape of college football 5-10 years from now.

Teams are more likely to move in the other direction in this day and age

Not really. Who was the last program to move from scholarship football to non-scholarship?

The Northeast Conference allows 40 athletic scholarships, however, they can give equivalent aid to get to the FCS limit of 63.

The Patriot League, starting this year, offers up to 60 scholarships. 3 years ago none of the schools were allowed to offer any scholarships.

There are very strong rumors that the Pioneer League *could* be in trouble moving forward as it sounds like Campbell, Jacksonville, Stetson could be on the move to the Big South - scholarship football. Nothing is imminent, but the rumors are gaining steam as time moves on.

Interesting. On the surface, I would agree with Mudra, that the math doesn't make sense to move towards the scholarship FCS level. Have you heard/read why these teams are doing so?

Patriot League wants to be competitive on the national scene. They did fairly well using no scholarships. Once they figure out how to balance 60 scholarships they could be pretty good. Next up for them is redshirting, which they don't do.

With the Big South losing CCU, and Liberty always trying to get out, stability is needed. They aren't going to pull any SoCon or CAA teams. The best bet is to land teams that are PFL and play in the A-Sun conference and that type of thing. Many of those schools have been dinged for "impermissible aid" (Jacksonville) or have stated they have looked at scholarships. The Big South and A-Sun just came out with an agreement about 2 months ago saying "Should any A-Sun team want to play scholarship football they will be guaranteed a spot in the Big South". The math isn't hard to do on that one. Those schools include Jacksonville and Stetson. Campbell is a Big South member is all other sports and has a ton of support for their program compared to most of the PFL. They could be a legit Big South team if they tried. Kennesaw State is/has been ASUN but they started football and will be going SoCon. I think eventually we will see a full merger between the ASUN and Big South out of self preservation.

Pioneer League Campbell, long rumored to be a program looking to add scholarships, has schedule an announcement for Monday that they have tabbed at major.

Could be a big letdown or another scholarship program
